#HEALTH; FOODS THAT ARE BAD FOR YOUR SKIN

The kind of foods that we eat affects our system either positively or negatively, the quality of the foods we eat reflects how healthy we are and how radiant our skin looks. Knowing what best is good for our body system is really important to help us live a healthy life.

Hence, here are some foods that might not be beneficial to your skin health

FRIES (HYDROGENATED FATS)
Fries often pose a threat to our skin conditions without us knowing it since they are often heated at a very high temperature.
Hence, the oil and fats becomes oxidized in the process; this makes it bad for the skin since this fats are used over again and they become thicker and difficult to detox from the body.
It becomes difficult for blood to get circulated in the body and the rate of metabolism is slowed down, thus, the skin condition is affected since the collagen and elastin syntheses is slowed down and there is a lack in oxygen.

CAFFEINE
Researchers have shown that caffeine could lead to an increase in cortisol level in the body as a result of the stimulation of the pituitary- adrenocortical response.
However, an increase in the cortisol level could result in the acceleration of aging and skin damage, it could also thin the skin; hereby, promoting wrinkles, fine lines a dehydrated appearance (due to the diuretic nature of caffeine) lacking luster.

PROCESSED AND PACKAGED FOODS
Processed and packaged foods are not advisable for consumption, if you must keep your skin looking beautiful and radiant; such foods during processing have their nutrients and enzymes broken down and this could result in nutrient deficiencies which also affects the skin.
Such foods could also result in skin dehydration and a reduction of oil production in the skin since they usually have low water content.

MEAT
Animal meats could also pose a threat to our skin appearance, particularly; animals reared using the industrial farming method.
These animals are fed foods that make them grow faster rather than healthier; they are fed chemicals such as antibiotics, steroids and growth hormones rather than a natural diet for herbivores.
Thus, feeding on them implies that we also get a dose of the chemicals they consume; those compounds could lead to hormonal imbalances, causing skin inflammation and acne.

ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS
Artificial sweeteners contains chemical compounds which have no nutritional value added to our system, rather they result in inflammation and skin reactions and irritations.

DAIRY
Dairy cows are fed hormonal compounds to help double up their milk production round the year, however, when we feed on their milk, we have a share of these hormonal compounds; these dairy products also are known for the production of excessive estrogen and the formation of mucus which contributes to skin inflammation. It has been shown that dairy product could also lead to acne.

LOW QUALITY SUPPLEMENTS
The consumption of low quality supplements could be really harmful to the skin, since some of those supplements are not made from whole food sources and they often contain allergens, hidden ingredients unknown to us and fillers.
 It is advisable to look out for the contents of the supplements you buy alongside its expiry date.

EXCESSIVE SUGAR
Excessive sugar in the body is acidic and can weaken the immune system hereby leading to skin inflammation and acne since it would become difficult for the body to fight away bacteria, it could also result in constipation and skin congestion.
