ISIS claims responsibility for Pakistan hospital attack, death toll hits 70
The Islamic State has claimed
responsibility for the bloodbath caused by a suicide bomber who attacked
mourners gathered at a hospital in Quetta, killing at least 70 people,
the group's Amaq news agency reported.
"A
martyr from the Islamic State detonated his explosive belt at a
gathering of justice ministry employees and Pakistani policemen in the
city of Quetta," Amaq said.
According to Reuters, the Pakistani Taliban faction Jamaat-ur-Ahrar has also claimed responsibility for the attack.
Report
said the bomber struck as a crowd of mostly lawyers and journalists
crammed into the emergency department to accompany the body of a
prominent lawyer who had been shot and killed in the city earlier in the
day.
