Rihanna, 2016 Winner
Rihanna is the most recent recipient of the Michael Jackson Video
Vanguard Award, which honors a star’s achievements in music videos as
well as the late King of Pop. But that’s not the only way she – and
these past winners – are paying tribute to Michael; just check out their
outfits
We can't wait to see what Rihanna wears to pick up her award Sunday night (though if history is any indication, it won't be much).
But she's no stranger to a sartorial tribute to MJ: in 2009, Rihanna
sported this Balmain denim military jacket with some tight curls while
shopping in Beverly Hills -- an almost exact match to the King’s garb
during his performance at “A Night at the Apollo” in 2002.

Kanye West, 2015 Winner
Kanye wore a Hedi Slimane-designed red cadet jacket from Dior Homme's spring 2006 collection to the 2006 Brit Awards, not unlike that which Jackson wore to the American Music Awards in 1984.

Beyoncé, 2014 Winner
When Queen Bey took the Super Bowl half time show by storm in February,
she wore a DSquared2 military inspired jacket that appeared to be a
loving tribute to the King during his half time show performance at
Super Bowl XXVII in 1993. But a rep for designers Dean and Dan Caten said the resemblance wasn't planned "at all. Both looks happened to be military inspired." (Boys, bye.)

Justin Timberlake, 2013 Winner
JT’s outfit in the "Love Never Felt So Good (Remix)"
music video has major Michael vibes;his classic white button down by
Comme Des Garcon paired with a Balmain black leather jacket immediately
made us think of the outfit MJ wore to the Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary Celebration in 2001.

Britney Spears, 2011 Winner
The way Brit makes us feel in
her lookalike black suit and pantsuit from the 2001 VMAs? It knocks us
off of our feet how much she reminds us Michael’s performance at the
VMAs in 1995.

BONUS: More Beyoncé
We just couldn’t get enough of the Queen (who can?). So here’s another Michael
moment. Bey sported this black and silver striped Givenchy tuxedo when
she accepted the CFDA Fashion Icon Award earlier this year -- a shiny
near-mirror image of Michael’s onstage pants look during a 1980 LA
performance.
